My daughter transitioned to volleyball later in middle school, which made competing in the travel/club arena challenging. MVA helped her gain and refine volleyball mechanics quickly and strategically in order to help her become more confident and competitive on the court. I can’t say enough about the astonishing improvement we’ve seen in just over 1 year working with MVA. Thank you to Chelsea and all the MVA South staff for believing in her and encouraging her to pursue the sport of volleyball!

Elaine began private lessons with MVA because she was losing confidence and interest in volleyball while playing for another club. Chelsea worked with her on her mechanics and within just a few lessons the love and drive were back. She continued her lessons with Chelsea throughout her club season and it was amazing to watch her self confidence return. Parents and players even noticed the change. She was confident in herself and the choices she made both on and off of the court. MVA has helped her grow as a person and that's a tough thing to accomplish with middle school girls. MVA practices, camps and clinics have such a positive, fast-paced, fun, and competitive environment that Elaine has left many times saying she learned a lot and had a great time. She thoroughly enjoys playing for MVA no matter the setting. Elaine looks to Chelsea as a role model, she trusts the advice Chelsea gives her and can immediately see how the changes she receives help her mechanics in the game.

If you have a son or daughter who has taken an interest in volleyball and wants to play at the club level, I could not recommend MVA highly enough. I have two daughters who have been with MVA for several years, and the experience has been fantastic. With MVA’s stellar coaching staff and their philosophy of teaching correct mechanics from Day 1, my daughters have grown by leaps and bounds, both in skill and confidence. MVA trains the whole athlete – from technique to communication; from reading the ball to court sense – molding players that are so versatile, they can walk onto any court, placed in any position, and be successful. The transformation that I’ve seen in my daughters from shy beginners to advanced players competing at an elite level is truly astounding. Most importantly, they’ve learned how to be coachable athletes, leaders on the court, and great teammates. We wouldn’t want to be anywhere else!

MVA has been such a welcomed addition to our lives! Since starting with MVA a year ago my daughter has improved her skills and confidence in volleyball. She has experienced both wins and losses and has learned not only from a technical standpoint but from the coaching that is reinforced during practices and games. Playing with MVA means playing with integrity and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

MVA has been an exceptional experience for my daughter and our entire family. The club’s unwavering commitment to developing the girls' technical skills is truly remarkable. The coaching staff is not only highly skilled and knowledgeable but also incredibly attentive to each player’s growth. My daughter’s improvement on the court has been phenomenal, thanks to the focused and effective training she receives.

MVA is one of the best instructional clubs in the immediate region. At our level we like players who are ready to play at the Division 1 level/pace and can be integrated into our system upon arrival.
If you are searching for a club that will improve your daughter’s level of play while caring for them off the court, then I highly recommend Master’s Volleyball Academy.
Towson University freshman libero Anna Holehouse is a great example of the caliber of player MVA has trained, mentored, and supported throughout her career. Anna has started every match for us as a freshman and is one of the main reasons for our current 23-4 record. Anna possesses an innate ability to read the game, is already a leader within our program, anchors our defense, and is consistent in serve receive. Anna’s solid background that she received at MVA including philosophical and technical training has played a large part in her performance and character we have grown to love at Towson. Anna is currently 27th in the nation for digs/set, 125th in the nation for service aces, and 12th in the nation for total digs in a season (currently).

"When I was 11 years old I discovered a new found curiosity for volleyball. I had very little experience and my parents had just decided to home-school me, which I thought would be the end of this new hobby of mine. But, by some miracle from God, my mom discovered Coach Cary and the CHEN Bravehearts. Over the next several years, during high school and club seasons, Coach Cary both instructed and molded me into the player I am today. I credit much of my success as well as my overwhelming love for the game to him and all of his investment in my life."

"MVA is one of the top instructional clubs in the nation. At our level we need players who are ready to play at the collegiate level and can be plugged into our system. Freshman OH/DS Rachael Holehouse is a great example of the kind of player MVA has coached to be ready to start right away at the collegiate level."
Rachael has started every match for us as a freshman and is one of the main reasons for our current 28-3 record. Rachael is a game smart, tenacious, multiple position player who reads and reacts, offensively, defensively, and in serve receiving with amazing efficiency, because of the practical methods and core philosophy of MVA. I highly recommend MVA for your daughter."

We met the Lyons when our daughter Ariana was 9 years old at TCA club. As Ariana's coach Grace immediately connected with Ariana and her teammates. We noticed there was something genuine and unique about the Lyons. They had a very high degree of sophistication as human beings, the way they cared about the girls was beyond their roles as coaches. They instilled effective volleyball skills , always with emphasis on a sound team player base. Through out the volleyball club scene they have always been steadfast friends and mentors to Ariana. In Ariana's senior year, Ariana finished her club experience under Chelsea Lyon and Ana Holehouse coaching for 18 's National's and winning two bids to nationals. Coach Chelsea and Coach Cary were selfless with their time tapping into the vast network of volleyball college coaches they have developed. As a result of that energy our daughter will be playing volleyball at a division 2 college! Their dedication to the girls go beyond their club experience at MVA, like family, they give of themselves to help and guide the girls in their quest for the right college fit. We have always been amazed and inspired by the Lyon's caring and concern for the girls growth as players and as developing human beings. That input was reflected many times with many instances of parents from opposing teams making observations like" there is something different about your club" as they remarked on the good energy our teams displayed on the courts. Our family highly recommends MVA . They will coach, guide and help the girls with sincerity, dedication and effectiveness.

"Coach Chelsea has taught me so much more than just the game of volleyball. She has not only improved my skills on the court, but also made me a better person off the court. She truly demonstrates all the qualities of a great coach such as giving you frequent feedback during the drills and games. The thing I love about Chelsea is her heart and passion for the game and for her players. She is so devoted and dedicated to each member of the team and will do anything to help them succeed. Coach Chelsea always finds a way to get the most out of her players. She has strengthened me physically, mentally, and spiritually and has made me the athlete I am today."

"I've played for Chelsea for two years now, and it has been a really, really great experience. She's been a huge asset in my life in that not only did she introduce me to volleyball, but has also given me the best coaching out there and the tools I needed to succeed."

"Chelsea has been such an inspiration to our daughter. Chelsea taught her more than the skills of the game; she taught her to have confidence and to believe in herself. We could never have dreamed of a better mentor."

"Grace Lyon is a coach that makes learning the game of volleyball fun but intense. She really taught me a lot about the game. Grace also helped me to become a great leader on and off the court. She not only cares about the players developing their volleyball skills but also about helping them to succeed their goals. She is a great coach who doesn't care just about the player but also about the person."
Kathryn Barry
"Coach Grace was not only the person who taught me the game of volleyball, but she became my role-model at age 12. She molded me into the setter I am today, and also has influenced the person I have become. She gave me confidence and helped me become a leader, on and off the court. She shared the love she had for volleyball with me, and Im so thankful for that. Grace has affected so many players' game by being a good coach that not only gives her players tips and constructive criticism but also support. Being in Graces presence can always put you in a good mood because of her positive, energetic attitude and her kind heart."
Cassidy Cunningham
"My daughter, Cassidy, started playing volleyball four years ago as a 12 year old. Grace has been working with her from the beginning and has played an integral part in her success. Not only is Grace a skilled volleyball trainer but also an incredible motivator. She is passionate about the game and is eager to pass her knowledge along to others. Cassidy has gained skill and confidence thru Graces coaching. Her uplifting and encouraging nature instills a love for the game that will last a lifetime. Now, as an almost 16 year old, Cassidy has been the starting setter on Notre Dame Prep's volleyball team since she was a freshman, played on national club teams, and plans to play in college."
Lori Cunningham
"Although this is a new volleyball club, these coaches are all old pros at teaching volleyball. Our daughter Hannah and son Matthew have been under the watchful eye of one Lyon coach or another since 2005. (Matthew is on his college team and Hannah is on her high school varsity team.) Cary, Chelsea, Grace and Jimmy know volleyball. They understand and use practice planning, incorporate player statistics in practices and games, drive team development through team member competition, break down physical skills into understandable steps, and show their love of the game through their actions. I've seen Cary and Chelsea isolate technique faults after witnessing just a few repetitions, explain what's right and what's wrong and then demonstrate the skill correctly."
We are really excited about MVA and looking forward to the new club season."

"We moved to Maryland from Puerto Rico in 2007. Our daughter, who was nine at that time wanted to continue playing volleyball. We decide on a volleyball club in the Baltimore area, which is where we first met Coach Grace. She was the coach for the 12's, at that time. She put together a group of girls, some experienced and some who had never played volleyball before. My first impression of Coach Grace was how quickly she connected to the girls, and her passion to instill the proper volleyball skills to each girl. She was steadfast in her ability to teach each girl what they needed to know about playing club volleyball. We traveled to different venues, sometimes winning and losing at times, but Coach Grace always remained positive and encouraging each girl. We watched Coach Grace transform the team by teaching the girls the basic fundamental volleyball skills and then utilizing these skills in full force as they played tournaments." Thank you Coach Grace!

"I was introduced to Cary and Chelsea Lyon by my sons lacrosse coach, Russ LeBlanc. I was very frustrated with the training my daughter was receiving (or lack thereof) both in her volleyball club and at her high school, and I was looking for someone who had the expertise, experience and ability to train my daughter. I could see after just one hour of one-on-one training with Cary and Chelsea that they not only knew the game, but knew how to teach the game. In addition, in just one hour, I learned more about the fundamentals of the game than I had learned in the last three years watching my daughter play club and high school volleyball. I congratulate Cary and Chelsea as they endeavor to launch their new club team and look forward to my daughter playing in the new club."
