Do you want to spend more time working on your volleyball skills? Or fine turn a specific skill? Tutoring is a great way to do that. Your tutoring coach will tailor your hour session to work on whatever skills you wish to focus on, and the best part; you can learn at your own pace! 

1-hour session

Private: $110.00

Semi-Private (2 people): $65.00 per person

Small Group (3+ people): $50.00 per person

Cary Lyon

Coach Cary's resume includes: 3 Coach of the Year awards (2001, 2005, 2013), 4A State Championship '13, 14 years coaching Elite Club teams, 26 years coaching High School, 2 years coaching college, CAP I and II certification, and GM2 certification with participation in 21 clinics (7 as an instructor).

Chelsea Mead

Coach Chelsea has had success playing varsity all four years in high school and helping take her collegiate team to the NCAA "Sweet 16" 3 years in a row. Her coaching experience consists of 18 years of club, GM2 certification (9 years), Impact certification and currently coaches private lessons (tutoring) full time. Chelsea took over the Garrison Forest program in 2021 and has helped take the team to back to back conference finals. Coach Chelsea has trained athletes of all levels. From beginner to professional.

Grace Hayes

Grace earned a full division 1 scholarship as a setter. She has coached club volleyball for 19 years as well as 9 years of high school volleyball. Grace is GM2 certified (18 years), Impact certified and currently coaches private lessons (tutoring) full time. She also runs the MVA recreation program. Grace not only has a passion for the game of volleyball but a heart for each individual player.

Phyllis May

After playing in High School, College and many years of Adult Club ball, Phyllis started her coaching career at Dulaney High and local clubs over 16 years ago. 

Well known in the region as a fundamentally sound and encouraging coach, she is admired by all who meet her. Currently Phyllis is assisting coach at Garrison Forest School and will be in her 9th year with MVA.

Matt Marion

Matt's passion for volleyball started at Loyola Blakefield as a senior when Loyola created a boys volleyball team. Eventually, Matt took over the volleyball program at Mercy and it has grown to one of the biggest programs in the state. Mercy boasts 3 teams and recently won the IAAM B conference in 2022. Matt was also named IAAM coach of the year in 2022.


Matt has coached for MVA for 9 years and is currently the camps and clinics director. Matt is Gold Medal Squared certified and is the current 18 National head coach. Being a full time Physical Education teacher, Matt has the unique perspective of relating skills to other sport experiences.
